Course Objectives
The course sets out to:
- support students in writing-up and disseminating Doctoral level design research;
- provide feedback on overall thesis structure and the content and presentation of chapters;
- develop students' communication and writing skills necessary for preparing academic publications;
- prepare students for public presentations and defence of their work.
Course Content
A comprehensive and explicit account of the conduct and findings of the research. A critical appraisal of prior research; close attention to the principles and practice of research methodology; the conduct of a single, major systematic investigation; and the delivery of an original and substantial contribution to knowledge.
Course Learning Outcomes
On completing the course, students will be able to:
- write-up a comprehensive thesis containing a detailed account of Doctoral level design research;
- prepare public presentations and dissemination of their work;
- communicate design research in effective and engaging ways;
- successfully defend their thesis in front of an examination jury.
