Course Objectives

The course sets out to:

  • support students in writing-up and disseminating Master's level design research;
  • provide feedback on overall thesis structure and the content and presentation of chapters;
  • develop students' communication and writing skills necessary for preparing academic publications;
  • prepare students for public presentations and defence of their work.

 


Course Content

The thesis is required to be a comprehensive, explicit and defensible account of conduct and findings of the research in which a set essay, a critical review, a laboratory report, a product specification etc. may be incorporated or to which they may be accompanied.


Course Learning Outcomes

On completing the course, students will be able to:

  • write-up a comprehensive thesis containing a detailed account of Master's level design research;
  • prepare public presentations and dissemination of their work;
  • communicate design research in effective and engaging ways;
  • successfully defend their thesis in front of an examination jury.
