Course Objectives
learn the basic concepts and theories of organizational psychology as it relates performance at work
understand the application of organizational psychology in today’s workplace
develop and refine the knowledge and skills to function more effectively in today’s organizations.
Course Content
Human values and problems in organisations (perception, personality, interpersonal transactions), organisational perspectives of human nature and motivation, leadership and participation, decision making, team management, group dynamics in organisations, conflict resolutions in organisational context, organisation as dynamic and developing systems (structure, process, change, development), implications of theory and research that underlie the field of organisational psychology in various organisational contexts. Examination of the individual as a functioning member of the groups and organisations in public and private sectors.
Course Learning Outcomes
1. Understand the forces that have shaped current practice in organizational psychology
2. Be proficient in critically assessing practices related to work performace
3. Be knowledgeable about the theoretical approaches in each major topic area of organizational psychology as it relates to Human Resource Development
4. Gain experience in presenting and discussing material related to organizational psychology
5. Become exposed to various methodologies used to study issues in organizational psychology
6. Learn how to conduct job analysis, performance evaluation, how to make selection decisions how to develop and evaluate training
7. Learn and discuss ethical issues in Human Resource Management
