Course Objectives
This course will familiarize the students with the Italian unification (Risorgimento). For that purpose, it will introduce the main intellectual, military and political leaders of the movement, and will provide a general framework about the cultural, social and political conditions in nineteenth-century Italy.

By the end of the semester, the students will obtain substantial information about the Risorgimento, and will be able to analyze the cultural, political and social issues and problems that had a significant impact on the country's unification.
