Course Objectives

By the end of the course,the students will be able to;

  • enhance social awareness and responsibility,

  • understand the importance of participating in community service,

  • identify social problems in their communities,

  • develop solution strategies for identified social problems,

  • develop and share ideas for the specific course activities and/or discussions,

  • carry out voluntary tasks for their communities.

 


Course Content

Introducing the principles of community work; enhancing the skills of students to develop programs and strategies in assisting the community to meet its own needs.


Course Learning Outcomes

In this course the students are expected to learn;

  • apply discipline specific and/or interdisciplinary knowledge and critical thinking skills to community issues.
  • demonstrate critical self reflection of ones own assumptions and values as applied to community issues.  
  • demonstrate knowledge and sensitivity to issues of culture, diversity, and social justice as applied to community engagement.
