Course Objectives

By the end of the course the students will 

* understand the principals of optical image formation from light sources to digital numbers in images

* be able to establish elaborate models of image formation

* be able to design imagers at the system level

* be able to translate remote sensing needs into technical requirements for imaging systems

* be able to contribute to system engineering activities of imager design projects


Course Content

Introduction to remote sensing, platforms and payloads; instrument design process; electromagnetic waves and light; sensors and filter; general optics; atmosphere and light; imaging; radiometry; opto-mechanics; design for space and high-altitude environment.
