Course Objectives

The student’s stylistic abilities are expanded by means of the composition of different texts, whereby he/she becomes familiar with diverse textual types and structures. Participants improve their speaking abilities by means of the presentation of reports. In the realm of reading comprehension, more demanding texts with socio-cultural information and basic literary pieces are used.

 

 

By the end of the course, students will be able to:

 

  • follow the main content of specific and abstract topics and obtain relevant information from them (i.e. radio broadcasts)ç

  • understand a wide range of texts, both shorter simple texts (such as advertisements) and longer, more complex factual texts, commentaries and reports.

  • express themselves clearly and in a structured way in writing on the subject of complex matters and also correct mistakes in texts written by other people.

  • give clearly structured oral comments on general subjects and topics.

  • take an active part in discussions on subjects they know about, taking up a position and presenting their own point of view.


Course Content

The course content of the course German 208 is based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), Level B2.2. The target language is learned in a thematic context, based on real-life situations. The course has a learner-centered approach for the development of reading, writing, listening and speaking skills.


Course Learning Outcomes

After completion of this course the students will have finished the level B2.1 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). The student can understand with little difficulty complex texts on both concrete and abstract topics. Student can recognize the author’s point of view and is able to understand longer literary texts. Students can interact with native speakers without much difficulty. The student can express

him/herself with a degree of spontaneity on a wide range of subjects and explain in detail a viewpoint on a topical issue. Students can recount the plot of a movie and summarize books as well as tell a story or make a presentation in his/her field of specialization with a degree of fluency.
