Course Objectives
Review of basic Remote Sensing definitions. Characteristics of the remote sensing. Spectral reflectance curves and spectral libraries. Physical properties of earth materials in spectral reflectance curves. Fundamentals of spectral and spatial enhancement. Theories and applications of remote sensing on the evaluation of resource exploration, natural hazards and environmental problems.
Course Content
Principles of Remote Sensing applications. Instrumentation. Multispectral image acquirements. Photo image analysis methods. Automations for natural resources evaluation. Aircraft program. Space program. Utility of Remote Sensing data.
Course Learning Outcomes
Expected Outcomes: by the end of the course, the student is expected:
- to have sufficient knowledge to utilize the remote sensing technology in resource exploration, in hazard assessment and in environmental issues
- to understand the fundamentals of Earth observation concept and to grab the possible data types needed for any type of Earth observation project
- to have an interpretative understanding of types of geo-spatial data recorded in the images
- to digest the spectral reflectance curve concept and to learn the limits of current systems
- to have information on introductory digital image processing to handle the remote sensing data
