Course Objectives

Course objectives:

  • Provide students with the knowledge of recent advances in stratigraphy including seismic stratigraphy, sequence stratigraphy, and other advanced stratigraphic techniques.
  • Create the opportunity for students to discuss the new concepts and advances in stratigraphy.

Course Content

The Precambrian, Paleozoic and Mesozoic Eras. Lithology, age, fossils and development of geological formations. Sedimentation, igneous activity, tectonic evolution of selected geosynclines, platforms and cratons.
