Course Objectives
Upon completing this course, each student should be able to:
- understand the goal of science education
- develop insights about research and trends in science education
- familiar with issues in science education research
- analyze the strengths, weakness, and gaps of the existing research
- gain an experience on designing and conducting a scientific research
Course Content
Examines the current state of theory and research on learning, instruction, and curriculum in school science and mathematics. Review of selected research studies in mathematics and science education.
Course Learning Outcomes
Student, who passed the course satisfactorily, will be able to:
- critically synthesize the research in science education research
- familiar with recent studies of theory and perspectives on science education
- maintain an open and questioning mind towards new ideas and alternative points of view
- arguments on the ideas reported on research in science education research
- comment on issues addressed in the selected text
