Course Objectives

To develop a basic understanding of role and techniques of quality engineering and control at the product/service/process design and manufacturing stages of a product’s life cycle. To develop an ability for understanding customer requirements, and translating them into product and process characteristics. To develop an ability to monitor processes, detect special causes of variation. To develop an ability to formulate and solve typical design optimization problems by statistical experimentation. To improve the ability to detect important quality problems during product/service development and generate solutions for them.


Course Content

Total quality concept. Quality assurance and control activities. Statistical process control. Control charts. Acceptance sampling. Process capability. Quality through product, process and service design. Failure modes and effects analysis. Inventive problem solving approaches for quality improvement.
