Course Objectives

  • The course participants will explore issues focusing on aspects of interculturality and intercultural education.
  • The course participants will inquire into major conceptual foundations related to interculturality.
  • The course participants will analyze studies related to interculturality in language education  and teacher education settings.

Course Content

Culture, interculturality, and language education. Intercultural development, intercultural awareness. Identity. Conceptions of Cosmopolitanism, Transnationalism, and Globalization. Critical Interculturality, epistemological lenses and debates. Study abroad. Research on international experiential learning. Reflexivity in multicultural contexs. Emerging research directions in intercultural education.


Course Learning Outcomes

  • The course participants will synthesize studies related to interculturality in language education  and teacher education settings.
  • The course participants will design projects that explore various aspects of intercultural education.
