Course Objectives

To make learners aware of the scope  and range of varied topics of interest in classroom research and how knowledge and insights from related disciplines in linguistics and other fields inform classroom research with the ultimate view of contributing to the betterment  of language teaching /learning.

To enable participants to formulate and conduct projects on topics defined or negotiated, normally involving field work and data analysis, which may hopefully inspire potential professional articles and dcotoral dissertation ideas.


Course Content

A comprehensive overview of recent classroom-centered research and its implications for teaching and learning of languages; classroom research methods; teacher talk; learner behavior; teacher and student interaction; learning outcomes; directions in research and teaching.


Course Learning Outcomes

Students will gain practical and theoretical insights into diverse observation phenomena in classroom settings.

Students will be involved in qualitative and qualitative research schemes.
