Familiariziation with basic concepts in language testing and statistics

Phases of test development

Testing skills and areas

Application of different types of assessement in relevant applied linguistics projcets


Course Content

Major aspects of English language testing: item analysis and interpretation of test scores; subjective and objective tests; procedures in preparing different kinds of test items appropriate for testing different language skills; practice in item writing and statistical methods.

Critique of item and task types in different types of tests

Critique and application of the qualities of useful tests through project work

Application and specialization in the testing of  one or two language skills or areas

Becoming aware of the link between testing and syllabus design and teaching.
