Course Objectives

This course aims to 

- provide a comprehensive understanding of poetry as a major literary genre.

- look into representative works from different periods in order to gain a better understanding of poetic forms, types and themes.


Course Content

A study of verse forms and types through representative works from different periods.

At the end of the course students will be able to 

- discuss poetry as a major literary genre with all its peculiar and distinguishing characteristics.

- identify major poets and their works and discuss them from both a formal and thematic perspective.
