Course Objectives
At the end of this course, students will have a critical understanding of selected drama from Western traditions, and both deepened and broadened understandings of the major theoretical, practical and artistic parameters involved in the advanced study of dramatic texts.
Course Content
A study of drama as a literary genre through representative works from different periods.
Course Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of the course, students will be able to:
Examine the cultural, theoretical and aesthetic features of significant dramatic texts in Western literature.
Add to their existing knowledge of dramatic texts, and gain a deep familiarity with many further works of drama deemed to have the status of classics in Western literature.
Show their ability to use their advanced knowledge of drama and related theoretical thinking in extended, individually proposed and written presentations and research papers.
