Course Objectives

At the end of this course, the student will learn:

  • the development of the European novel since its birth so that they can compare and contrast it with the development of the English novel

Course Content

A study of fiction as a literary genre through representative works from different periods.

Student, who passed the course satisfactorily will be able to:

 

  • discuss the social and political changes in this period to see their
    effects on the themes prevalent in the novel being studied

  • discuss the narratorial techniques used in the novels

  • discuss the literary trends illustrated in the novels
