Course Objectives

At the end of this course, students will learn:

  • major paradigms in genre theory
  • defining characteristics of major narrative literary genres
  • literary and non-literary factors contributing to the emergence and development of major narrative literary genres
  • interactions between different narrative literary genres

Course Content

Major narrative literary genres and inter-generic relations. Non-literary causes behind genres, and common formal literary devices among genres and their transformations.
