Course Objectives

At the end of this course, students will learn:

  • major thematic, formal and generic interactions between literary texts produced in Europe from the Middle Ages onward.
  • aesthetic, cultural, philosophical and political contexts informing the interactions between  literary texts produced in Europe from the Middle Ages onward.

Course Content

Interactions between English literature and Spanish, Italian, French, German and Russian Literatures from the Middle Ages to 20th century. This interaction is be studied in the light of social, political economic changes and philosophical and literary trends.

Students who pass this course satisfactorilly, will be able to:

  • identify major thematic, formal and generic interactions between literary texts produced in Europe from the Middle Ages onward.
  • discuss the interactions between literary texts produced in Europe from the Middle Ages onward from within relevant aesthetic, cultural, philosophical and political contexts.
