Course Objectives

At the end of this course, the student will learn:

  • Construct objects, figures, and diagrams; explore their mathematical properties.
  • Generate teaching aids, including worksheets, tests, reports, and presentation materials
  • Analyze and solve various geometric and/or trigonometric problems

 


Course Content

This course will be important for preservice mathematics teachers in terms of gaining variety of perspectives in teaching and learning of geometry and mathematics. It will be helpful for students to become familiar main issues in elementary mathematics education in order to support an understanding of the important concepts, principles, approaches and theories of teaching and learning mathematics and geometry in classroom settings.


Course Learning Outcomes

Student, who passed the course satisfactorily will be able to:

  • Create simulations that make use of dragging, animation, tracing loci, and random point generation 
  • Make conjectures and test hypotheses about Euclidean geometry. 
  • Create Escher-like tessellations and tilings of the plane
