Course Objectives
Students completing this course will be able to be familiar with real classroom environment including students, teachers, and different aspects of teaching profession under the guidance of mentor teachers.
Course Content
Reflections of faculty work on classroom environment in the context of elementary education. Observations on and reflections of elementary education in Turkey. Instructional methods and techniques pertaining to teaching and learning issues to be used in elementary education. Key skills required for creating effective learning environment.
Course Learning Outcomes
-Analyze the middle school environment and culture in elementary school.
-Evaluate the communication among students, teachers, and other staff.
-Critique school teachers in terms of teacher knowledge.
-Design mathematics/science lessons considering students of different ages and abilities.
- Relate the theoretical knowledge about teaching to teacher practices in schools.
-Value teaching of mathematics/science.
