Offered Semester:Fall Semesters.

Course Objectives

Students taking the course will learn;

  - techniques to construct space curves of desired forms and establish continuity conditions at the joints of succeeding segments of the curve,

  - techniques to construct surface patches of desired shapes and establish continuity conditions along the adjoining edges of adjacent patches,

  - transformations of space objects splines and surface patches.

Course Content

Transformations of points and lines. Two and three dimensional transformations; translation, rotation, scaling and sheving. Projections and perspective transformations., Plane curves; Nonparametric and parametric curves and representations. Space curves; representation, splines and B-splines. Surface description and generation; bilinear, bicubic, coons, Bezier and B-spline surfaces.

Course Learning Outcomes

Students are going to be able to;

  • formulate parametric and closed form representations of space curves and surface patches in engineering/mathematical problems specifically resulting in navigation of robots,
  • use parametric and closed form representations of space curves and surface patches in engineering/mathematical problems specifically addressing robotic applications.
