Course Objectives

1. Students will be able to understand how human visual system works, representation of analog and digital video in spatial and frequency domain, filtering and enhancement, learning based approaches used in video analysis, fundamentals of compression and recent video compression formats.

2. Students will be able to implement video processing algorithms using MATLAB/C/Phyton 

3. Students will be able comprehend state of the art papers on video processing


Course Content

Fundamentals of digital video progressing. Digital video representation. Video enhancement and filtering. 2-D motion estimation/tracking. Standards conversion. De-interlacing. Video coding basics. Emerging international standards for image and video compression. Digital TV. Video communication.


Course Learning Outcomes

Student, who passed the course satisfactorily will be able to:

  • demonstrate sufficient understanding ot theory of digital and analog video processing
  • use their knowledge in impleneting video processing algortihms using MATLAB or any other programmimg language
