Course Objectives

At the end of this course students understand drive market requirements and drive classification. Students will be able to model and  analyze electrical machines via complex vector methds. They will comprehend vector control and field orientation and will be able to implement vector control.


Course Content

Drives in industry, drive types. Modelling of induction machines. Complex vector analysis of induction machines. Principles of vector control and field orientation. Vector control types. Parameter identification. Parameter sensitivity.

Students will know drives market requirements and drive classification.

Sudents will know d-q modeling of induction and synchronous machines

Students will comrehend complex variable model of induction machines and synchronous machines.

Students will be able to analyze induction machines using complex vector model

Students will learn about various transformations and steady-state equivalent circuits and how to use them

Students will learn various implementation methods of vector control.

Students will be able to simulate vector controlled electrical machines
