Course Objectives
Students are expected to;
- Explain college students’ cognitive, affective, and social developmental levels.
- Identify different levels of learning objectives and outcomes and write them in relation to a course designed in their own area in show sensitivity to learner characteristics and needs as they are applied to teaching and learning processes.
- Design a course in their area, and develop an international or global perspective (SDGs, transversal skills) in designing a thorough course (including its rationale, objectives and learning outcomes, content and instructional delivery, and assessment).
- Develop an effective instructional plan to enhance prospective student learning that includes active learning strategies.
- Show sensitivity to different approaches to assessment in terms of their implications for student learning and for university teaching.
- Value group dynamics and adhere to suitable conversational skills during individual, pair, and group work
- Recognize the importance of ethics in research, teaching, assessment, and academic service in university settings.
Course Content
This course is designed for prospective faculty to improve the perceptions and skills related to instructional planning, effective teaching and evaluation. It aims to increase awareness of university course planning, teaching and learning, valuing student differences, learner motivation, student assessment, university culture and ethics, and self improvement in an academic context.
Course Learning Outcomes
Students are expected to;
- explain basic concepts in relation to education, university students and teaching, and improve planning and teaching skills in various aspects like course design, teaching and learning processes, student motivation and assessment of achievement.
- discuss and appreciate the unique aspects of university teaching.
- design a course including all essential elements of a curriculum that is consistent in all its aspects and is geared toward active learning.
- develop a course from an international perspective and consider global changes into the curriculum.
- critically engage with the theoretical ideas in relation to teaching and learning.
- organize instructional planning with regard to student learning differences and
- discuss and value the importance of considering learning styles in establishing an effective teaching and learning process.
- build an effective classroom environment to maximize student learning.
- explain ways of improving communication and student motivation in higher education settings.
- develop practical communication skills with students at different educational levels and other.
- organize classroom settings for individual seat work or group work in line with the instructional approach selected.
- evaluate assessment tools based on their format, and alignment with course content and objectives.
- plan teacher-made examinations regarding course goals to diagnose student progress.
- respect students’ differences, individual human rights, learning rights, and fair assessment.
- conduct instruction and assessment in line with course content, course goals and instructional approach, student needs and glocal needs.
