Course Objectives

By taking this course, students will

1. Define mixed-method research,

2. Know the history of this research approach,

3. Describe the purposes of mixed-method research, 

4. Discuss philosophical foundations of mixed-method research

5. Describe the steps in mixed methods data collection used in the different types of designs, 

6. Describe the different procedures available for analyzing, mixing, and validating quantitative and qualitative data within mixed methods designs

7. Compare and contrast mixed-method research designs 

8. Critique studies with mixed-method research design Develop a mixed-method research proposal


Course Content

The nature of mixed-method research, development of mixed method design in a historical perspective, purposes of mixed-method design, reasons of mixed-method design, foundations of mixed-method designs, mixed-method design alternatives, designing and implementing mixed-method research in educational sciences (rationale and purpose statement, sampling, data collection, data analysis, writing and evaluation).
