Course Objectives
The course will attempt to challenge students’ thinking and understanding of the higher education system and its administration, identify and critically elaborate the issues in the current Turkish higher education system. At the end of the course, students will be able to:
- Identify the main components of higher education administration within a system approach
- Explore the idea of higher education and its role within our society
- Develop a holistic perspective of higher education and situate that picture within both the historic and contemporary realities of higher education.
- Recognize the role of leadership and shared governance in the development and sustainability of organizational culture.
- Develop a critical perspective about current issues in Turkish higher education (primarily) and their connection to other higher education systems
- Illustrate the application of research methods particular to higher education studies.
