Course Objectives

Know the different approaches to organizational problem solving.

Understand the possible causes of gaps in reaching organizational gaps

Apply the gap analysis approach to solve a problem that existed in a specfic educational organization

Appreciate the relationship between organizational problem solving and performance improvement?

Design a case study that addresses a particular gap in an educational organization

Analyze the gap that exist between the goal of the organization and the current state in terms of that goal using organizational learning and motivation theories

Formulate solutions that address knowledge, motivation, and organizational causes of the gap

Judge the effectiveness of these solutions on closing the gap in the organization

Course Learning Outcomes

Define key organizational learning and motivation theories

Identify the steps of a specific organizational problem solving approach called GAP Analysis

Explain the causes of organizational problems

propose appropriate solutions based on organizational research and theory

Evaluate the effectiveness of proposed solutions on closing the identified gap using Kirkpatrick ands Kirkpatrick's 4 levels of evaluation

conduct a gap analysis on  a specific educational organization that is having difficulty achieving the goals of the organization

measure the current progress towards those goals and the gaps that must be closed to achieve the goals for each of the stakeholders who are affected by the problems experienced in a given organization
