Course Objectives

At the end of this course students will be able to:

-define adult education

-explain the fundamental concepts related to adult education

-explain historical developments in adult education

-develop a critical understanding of the models and approaches to adult education

-describe how learning occurs in adults

-describe the aims and goals of lifelong learning

-examine the principles of lifelong learning

-analyse the historical development of lifelong learning internationally and in Turkey

-develop an interest in adult education,

-develop an interest in lifelong learning

-analyse the lifelong learning practices in the Turkish Education System,

- analyse the current issues and problems faced in adult education

- analyse the current issues and problems faced in lifelong learning


Course Content

Definition and scope of Adult Education, fundamental concepts related to adult education, historical development of Adult Education in Turkey, models and approaches to adult education, adults and learning, the aims and scope lifelong learning, principles of lifelong learning, historical development of lifelong learning both internationally and in Turkey, lifelong learning practices in the Turkish Education System.
