Course Objectives
This is an advanced course that will provide a critical analysis of existing urban and regional development theories and their practical implementation from the perspective of new challenges in urban and regional issues. The goal is to enable students to criticise existing theories and planning practice and make them familiar to the new discourses on urban and regional development issues.
Course Content
Critical evaluation of existing theories of urban and regional development. The major turning points and motives of change in development theories: the shift from exogenous to endogenous growth models. Evaluation of current endogenous growth and territorial development theories. How far are they able to reflect the ongoing transformation in economic dynamics?

To enhance understanding theories and debates on planning and enable students to criticise them as well.
