Course Objectives

At the end of the course the student will learn

  • current issues and debates on the planning legislation and  zoning procedure
  • implementational issues
  • zoning tools,
  • urban regeneration,
  • urban design,
  • conservation areas, rural areas,
  • ublic (urban) services,
  • and similar subjects all of which are closely attached to the implementation of plans and the practice of planners involved in professional life

Course Content

Aims to present current issues and debates on the planning legislation related to coastal areas, natural and built environment, privatization of public land, touristic development and similar subjects all of which are closely attached to the implementation of plans and the practice of planners involved in professional life.


Course Learning Outcomes

This course is basicly oriented for students who  wish to get acquaintence with tools and rules of urban planning and zoning. By the end of the course, the students  will have  the ability, in legal knowledge, to understand and discuss  planning implementaion problems of everyday urban life. Legal terminologies and law jargon are expected to be learned. Aiming to undertake a profession as a planner, the students of this curriculum will get interested for juristical court cases. In their concern of search of legal topics and documents,  what type of laws and regulations do exist and where these document can be provided  will not pose diffuculties of finding the written sources
