Course Objectives

By the end of the course the students will comprehend how the concept of cultural and natural heritage conservation and legal regulations emerged and developed in Turkey. 


Course Content

Laws, state of local organizations concerned with the conservation of historical monuments and sites in Turkey. Policies adopted, different approaches used for the restoration and rehabilitation of historical monuments and sites.Prerequisite: Consent of Department


Course Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, the student will be able to:

  • get knowledge the historical development process of national legislation and describe the existing and related cultural and natural heritage conservation legislation/laws (conceptual, legal, administrative, economic) and tools to be used in conservation and restoration process of cultural heritage.
  • establish skills the relationship between legislation and practice and to be able to evaluate the legal problems in the practices; to interpret in general other relevant Laws affecting protection practices,
  • develop awareness of professional ethics and responsibility; use the knowledge in the field for the benefit of society.
