Course Objectives

At the end of the course, students will:

  • Explain and demonstrate the educational benefits and potential of emerging learning environments and technologies
  • Follow, discuss and report trends in emerging learning technologies.
  • Evaluate learning technology trends and problems from broader psychological, social, cultural and educational perspectives.
  • Examine books and software, as well as review articles on emerging learning environments and technologies and present about the work.
  • Use and create digital resources (e.g. videos, e-books) in various educational tools and environments.
  • Obtain the skills to train fellow teachers as well as learners in emerging learning technologies and pedagogically effective instructional activities and approaches.
  • Write a systematic literature review research project related to one of the emerging instructional technologies.

Course Content

Future of education and education of future, digitalization in education, e-learning, open courseware movement and massive open online courses, social media and personal learning networks, mobile and ubiquitous learning, augmented reality and virtual reality in education, game-based learning and gamification,adaptive learning, learning analytics, technology enhanced learning environments(e.g. makerspaces, fablabs), IoT and wearables, AI, robotics and personal digital assistants and educational neuroscience.
