Course Objectives

To understand the basic concepts in space mission design, the considerations are given in such design and the engineering disciplines it involves


Course Content

Coordinate systems and transformations, Euler equations, torque free motion of spinning bodies, introduction to analytical dynamics, generalized coordinates, constraints, work and energy; orbital motion, orbital parameters, common satellite orbit types, orbital maneuvers.

  • Ability to understand the fundamental considerations in space mission design.

  • Ability to understand the basic components of space systems, their functions, and design requirements associated with them.

  • Ability to design a space system with specific mission with their team

  • Ability to write a design report and present them in class.
