Course Objectives

The course will provide the student with 

1) advanced theoretical and methodological knowledge of their field

2) fieldwork skills

3) writing and analysis

By providing a literature review on their chosen topic, the students will engage with the latest theoretical and empirical debates. They will discuss methodological issues with their instructors, read extra material on methods if necessary. Applying these issues to their field design, the students will expand on their practical skills. Finally they will write up an analysis of the research. Through constant interaction with the instructors and feedback on their papers, the students will improve their skills of analysis and writing. 


Course Content

The course will provide the students with a deeper knowledge of the area studies and its core issues, regardless of the disciplinary boundaries these issues might have. It will give the students familiarity with mainstream and alternative readings in area studies. the students will fine tune their skills of critical reading of the literature of their field.
