Course Objectives

Developing experimental computational design research within the field of architecture with respect to computational and cognitive research and morphogenetic studies.Critical interaction of  conceptual and applied/computational aspects of design research for the production of genuine architectural modes of thinking and expression.

Course Content

Critical interaction of conceptual and applied/computational aspects of design research for the production of genuine architectural modes of thinking and expression. Exploration of new design situations and strategies with a theoretical/historical agenda. Evolutionary design systems. Formal sequences. Algorithmic design. Analog/digital modes of morphogenetic design. Projects and topics of research vary each term.

Course Learning Outcomes

Integration of strategies and skills in computational design and critical appraisal of other discourses and paradigms within the hosting discipline and practice of design.

Development of polymorphic and hybrid ways of creative thinking and production in the architecture/technology
