Course Objectives

-Material, it's nature and history will be introduced by instructor, supported with visual  presentations.

-Basic workshop system and material preparation will be learned.

-Turkish and worldwide ceramic topic , contemporary methods, outputs and needs will be shown as presentations by instructor.

-Basic 3 shaping methods will be learned on trial pieces.

-Designed models will be produced after each method trial.

-Worldwide samples and product opportunities related to the methods shown will be shared with presentations by  instructor.

-Final design topic will be discussed and assigned with all course group. 

-Experience whole process of the production of a functional or decorative project  as  a  group or personal  work.

-Designed, produced and glazed outputs will be presented.

 

 

 


Course Content

Development of concept of form through the medium of clay. Hand-building, slip casting and wheel techniques in pottery making are practiced. Special emphasis on form, function and detailing.


Course Learning Outcomes

-Encounter basic plastic materials, both for  modelling ideas and producing ceramics. 

-Experince the craft routes of design history

-Improve hand skills for plastic materials

-Face with the needs and necessities for ceramic design

-Know actual situation of sector, methods and outputs 

-Learn proper methods for specific ceramic designs

-Experince whoole steps of material preperation and production

-Improve modelling and designing capacity especially for complex curvilinear lines

-Follow whole stages of a production line starts with material preperation and ends with the final product by doing.

-Have a better understanding of the ethics of productive workplace both for group and individual working
