By the end of the course, the students will

  • know about the historical development of oral history as a practice and field of study
  • know about the methodological and theoretical issues and concerns raised in the literature about oral history
  • problematize a topic as an oral history project
  • practice interview, recording, transcribing skills involved in an oral history project
  • analyze and evaluate the data collected in an oral history project
  • show awareness for ethical and legal issues in an oral history project
  • report and document an oral history project
