Level of Study:Graduate
Course Coordinator:Assoc.Prof.Dr. AYŞEM BERRİN ÇAKMAKLI
Offered Semester:Fall and Spring Semesters.

Course Objectives

The main objective is to establish the skills and knowledge on performative design by means of computational methods and tools. Design is expected to act as the core of the research process (research by design).

Course Content

Computational design applied on performative architecture; research by design; design and prototyping for a small-scale architectural program; computational methods for modelling; simulation, optimization and prototyping; design context on architectural form generation and envelope design.

Course Learning Outcomes

By the end of the course, the student will acquire the skills and knowledge on:

  • design computation, specifically generative and data-driven techniques, applied on performative buildings and sustainable built environment
  • Performance modeling, evaluation and prototyping of design
  • a critical inquiry on performance and computational issues in architecture
  • a rigorous understanding of architectural form, materials, behavior, environment and architectural performance
