Course Objectives

This course aims to present the epistemological foundations of political science research through a critical evaluation of the strengths and limitations of different methodological approaches, qualitative and quantitative. With examples on data collection tools such as interviews, archival research, surveys etc., students will be able to evaluate and address proper research methods in relation to their research questions.

Course Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion, students will be able to:

Design a coherent research project with clear questions, hypotheses, and methodological justification.

Analyze political phenomena using appropriate qualitative/quantitative techniques. 

Critique scholarly work for methodological rigor and theoretical contribution.

Collect and manage data while addressing biases, validity, and reliability challenges.
